Haglund’s Deformity Surgery
Haglund’s deformity is a bony enlargement on the back of the heel that can lead to irritation, pain, and swelling, particularly where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel bone. This condition is often aggravated by footwear, especially tight or stiff shoes. Surgery for Haglund’s deformity involves removing the excess bone and, if necessary, repairing any damage to the Achilles tendon. The goal of the surgery is to reduce pain, improve the appearance of the heel, and allow patients to wear shoes comfortably again. Recovery includes rest, immobilization, and gradual physical therapy to regain full function of the foot.
