Tarsal Tunnel Release
Tarsal tunnel syndrome occurs when the posterior tibial nerve, which runs along the inside of the ankle, becomes compressed, causing pain, tingling, or numbness in the foot. Tarsal tunnel release surgery is a procedure that relieves this nerve compression by cutting the ligament that is pressing on the nerve. This surgery is typically recommended for patients who haven’t found relief through conservative treatments like orthotics or physical therapy. By reducing pressure on the nerve, the procedure alleviates symptoms and improves foot function, helping patients regain normal sensation and mobility in the affected foot.
