Metatarsalgia
Metatarsalgia refers to pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot, often due to excessive pressure on the metatarsal bones. This condition can be triggered by high-impact activities, improper footwear, or foot deformities that shift weight unevenly. The pain can range from mild discomfort to a sharp, burning sensation that worsens with activity. Left untreated, metatarsalgia can lead to chronic pain or more serious conditions like stress fractures. Treatment typically focuses onreducing pressure on the foot with orthotics, proper footwear or surgery.
